Throughout Time
DESCRIPTION
Throughout Time was my final major project in my final year of college. We had to make a game that would reflect our chosen profession from our previous project, in this case it was Gameplay Programmer. With this in mind, I decided that I wanted to make a game I've always wanted to make.

An accurate dinosaur game. Specifically with dinosaurs that I can match to as close to their real world environments as possible. To then incorporate my chosen profession at the time into this, I would make tasks and quests linked to researching and just appreciated these animals.

Research
This project required an immense amount of research to be able to gain a good understanding on what experts think the environment, animal behaviour and animal density would be like within each time period that I wanted to at least reference within the game's environment.
I started by researching the generalist information about each era such as the temperature or rough environments. Once getting my general idea, I moved to each eras specific environments that existed at the time.
Once each era was completed, I started to focus on individual animals. To help be viable for a 5 month project, I had to sacrifice some detail and research animal families instead of individual species. To get these families, I separated them based on how much of their lives' was theorised for each group.

Using this method gave a nice balance that I think could actually work for the games production time and scale on a larger scale.

Prototype models
Before starting work on this project, I tried to model what I originally wanted this game to look like with the models here. These were based on my 2 favourite dinosaurs and were my first attempt at modelling organic things.
