The Origins
I've always like my original idea of just being able to wonder around a town at dusk when it gets quieter, being able to see a cities environment that has basically no people left in it, just the environment that us humans have created.
The entire premise of the original game was about a Fox looking for resources that her pups need to survive, scouring the map to find them. This originally was to fit it's Game Jam's Theme: "What's In The Box?" but stuck as the concept, even for the first revival. Due to it being a 3 Day Jam, there wasn't a lot more to it then that.
I've attempted to revive this project before and this version is what can currently be seen on the site but I ultimately gave up because I couldn't get the environment to my (admittingly high) standards with my skills at the time.
The Plan
This time though, I've enlisted the help of a friend who is an actual Artist and will be going for a more simple style. Hopefully, with some effort and time, these (less high) standards can be met for me and the product will be a visual cohesive game that will be nice to explore.
I was also thinking of changing up how the gameplay would work, going for a more stealth aspect of the game, trying to avoid Humans that might shoo the player away from said resources rather. My plan is to still have resource gathering be a mechanic, but more of a time limit rather than the main focus.
I'm also limiting my time for this project since I don't quite know what will be happening with University Work load. Last Year started off slow but I don't know if it will be the same this Year.
The Hopeful Outcome
Hopefully, if all goes to plan (Which I know it won't), I will have a good looking game that I can show off properly as saying that I did something over the summer, not just sat around and did nothing.
It also gives my friend an opportunity to work with Quadrupedal builds and animations for the fox.
