Potion Profiteer

DESCRIPTION

My role and my main task throughout the project was around the upkeep of our Wiki, something I suggested we utilise to the group after we had learned the Pros and Cons of different types of Documentation methods in a lecture. Before this, I was responsible for the bulk of our mechanics, making the minigames for potion creation and designing the system that made up the ingredient and potion class systems.

Inside the wiki, I wrote up many of the documents, specifying how our minigames, ingredients, potions & Potion Class systems would work within the game while making sure we were on the same page for other aspects such as art style and quest design. I was also the one that wrote up our high concept for the game and laid out all our important documents such as the Art Style and the GDD.

Games Systems

We planned out many different Systems that the player would interact with for the game such as the potions. This included their stats, class type, player effects, strength and ingredients needed for each potion type. We had many systems that would interact constantly that I was responsible for balancing and writing up for the rest of the team to understand.

I also wrote up how these systems would interact and how the player would ultimately be able to make the potion. This was done by a series of minigames that would take the ingredients found in the wild and convert them to essences that would then be combined to make the potion itself in a minigame.

This also meant that I was in charge of the items and what stats they would hold for the minigames. I made a table to show all the relevant information that each item would need for the team from rarity to the physical description of the item.

Wiki Management

The wiki was my primary responsibility while working on the project, keeping track and hyperlinking the documents that either I or the other Designers had uploaded to make sure they have the correct and relevant information.

I focused heavily on the minigames and important Docs section, making sure that the Artists and Programmers could find the information that they needed quickly and easily. This was done by putting this all on the front page and separating out the documents to make the information clearer to the reader.
