The Mental health game jam has started and I just met up with the rest of my group for game ideas. Even if it's a couple days late; with a deadline of 31st October I'm not too worried. First things first, I had to get everyone up to speed on our original idea that we threw around before starting.

We, as a group, had a lot to say. It took 3 damn hours! But we have our idea for a pretty large game that we could potentially fit within the 5 month development period. With areas that we can cut if the deadline approaches quicker than the think it will.

The game is themed around mental health, showing the effects to a character through the help of a speechless animal, one that represents the Illness to the character. We then have the player complete a level with a unique change based on a consequence due to the illness e.g., less stamina. This helps me construct a narrative for this, something that I want to focus on since it's still my weak point.

I really like this idea, it gives plenty of room for expansion if needed, being able to come up with a a new illness to theme a world around if needed but also able to just cut a world if we don't think we can make it in time. The game mainly just hinges on being able to come up with fun and interesting mechanics for each world and then designing levels that express these ideas in creative and fun ways. This will be my main focus for the month along with writing up everything we need in documents for the team, one that I have to lead might I add.

Anyways, see you at the end of the month for an update!

Bye!
